Sefton 35 Tarleton 12
Today we played Sefton. The score really didn't reflex the effort the whole team put in. Lucas was our captain. We played well as team, enabling Tyler and Ryan to score tries, Callum. H kicked one conversion.
Scorer(s): Tyler (1 try), Ryan (1 try), Callum H (1 conversion)

Fleetwood 0 Tarleton 30* (Game 1)
Vale 31 Tarleton 14 (Game 2)
This was our first ever Barclays Cup Match, and what a fabulous way to start. The whole team played with commitment and spirit. Captained today by Ryan, the team were focused and Haydn put the first try over the line, which was then converted by Woody (the boot). We went on to score a further 5 tries and all were converted by "the boot" Woody.
Player of the match: Haydn
Scorer(s): Haydn (3 tries), Tyler (2 tries), Callum (1 try), Woody (6 Conversions)
We knew this was the stronger team we would face today. The lads started strongly and Haydn again started the scoring with a try, Woody converted without a problem. We then seemed to lose our focus and soon found ourselves behind, with alot of work to do. In the second half we found our focus and took the game to Vale, Callum scored a try which again was converted by Woody. We held Vale up and defended well, but despite our concerted effort we were unable to close the gap on Vale.
Man of the match: Woody
Scorer(s): Haydn (1 try), Callum (1 try), Woody (2 conversions)

Wigan 7 Tarleton 4
On this rainy Sunday morning, the team traveled to Wigan, where the grass grows long! The team, led by Ryan, as captain, came up against a strong Wigan team.
Wigan took an early lead in the first half, then they met a resilient Tarleton team in the second half, who showed determination and commitment. The score didn't reflect the effort put in by the team, who most certainly won the second half.
Player of the Match: Lucas
Scorer(s): Tyler (1 try), Callum (1 try), Will (1 try) Ryan (1 try)

Blackburn Triangle
The Under 11s, travelled to Blackburn, to take part in a triangular match. Eccles being the third team.
The first match was Blackburn v Eccles, we lent Eccles 4 players. Our players made a great impression and scored all the Eccles tries!
The second match, we played Eccles (who borrowed 4 Blackburn players). The first half was a wakeup call for us, new rules to understand and implement. After a few well-chosen words at half time, the team rallied and played a much better game of rugby. Making penetrating runs which made good progress up the pitch and well-disciplined scrums. Haydn as captain, led from the front.
Scorer(s): Haydn Barnes (1 try), Mark Taylor (1 try) Callum Haggert (1 try and 2 conversions)
The third match, we played Blackburn, the score really didn’t reflect the game. We learnt very quickly and played some excellent rugby. Even though at times it felt like Blackburn had 13 players on their side!!!

Ormskirk 4 v Tarleton 2 (Game 1)
Ormskirk 4 v Tarleton 4 (Game 2)
Today's weather was overcast and windy but thanks to everyone who turned up today we had the full squad out which gave us chance to do some substituting which certainly isn’t an easy thing to do. This was also our new player, Owen Robinson's debut match. 2 good games today against Ormskirk, we are certainly improving but really need to focus our attention on fitness and ball retention. We really should have won both of today's games........
Game 1 was captained by George which we lost 4 –2 which was disappointing after a great start to the match, the team kind of fell apart in the 2nd half which we think is were the fitness comes in. Player of the match for this game was Sam Mallinson – well done Sam, you really put a lot of effort in today.
Game 2 was captained by Sam which ended up a 4 – 4 draw. Again a little disappointing after leading 3-1 at half time. The guys really do need to work on their fitness levels as this is a trend that we are seeing every week, great start poor 2nd half. Player of the match for the second game was Felix Murphy who had a strong game and scored a really brilliant try – keep up the good work Felix.
The new guys, Tommy, Owen, Sam and Jake are settling well in to the team and are all really keen to get stuck in. Niki and I will be putting some time in with these guys to get them up to speed as soon as possible.
Squad: George (Captain Game 1), Brandon, Jack, Jake, Joe, Marcus, Owen, Paul, Tommy, Felix and Sam (Captain Game 2)
Scorer(s): Game 1 - Brandon (1 try), Sam (1 try). Game 2 - Jack (2 tries), Sam (1 try), Felix (1 try)

Tarleton 0 Sefton 8
A bright and windy Sunday morning where our first home match of the season welcomed Sefton RUFC. Two matches were played and due to their brilliant performances last week Joe captained the first game and Paul captained the second game. This match was also new player Tommy's debut match. Unfortunately Sefton knew their stuff and saw our weaknesses and took advantage where both games resulted in a loss to us of 0-8. Coaches Stuart and Niki had plenty to go focus on for Thursday night training.
Squad: Joe (Captain Game 1), Paul (Captain Game 2), Marcus, Jack, Brandon, Felix, Jake, Sam, Tommy and George
Player of the Match: Jack

Rochdale 5 Tarleton 2 (Game 1)
Liverpool St Helens 1 Tarleton 1(Game 2)
A sunny and bright morning saw us travel to Liverpool St Helens to play in a triangular with Rochdale being the third team. The first match saw LSH and Blackburn play.
What a fantastic performance from Tarleton in both games. A massive improvement on the previous weeks. The scores certainly didn't represent the game played.
Player of the Match in game one was Marcus and George in game two. To be fair to everyone else this was a really hard decision.
Marcus put in a fantastic performance with some incredible drives often resulting in Tarleton winning the ball. George was like a little bull terrier attacking the scrum and really making a difference in the second half of the second game.
Paul made some excellent runs through the pack and some good tackles, Tommy was determined to get involved at every opportunity, Jake was awesome as Prop clearly taking on the advice given to him and Felix made some good tackles and some good runs. Jack was a real threat towards the end of the second game putting his aggression in to the game and making up a lot of ground for the team. Joe was the tackler of the day once again, Brandon made some good runs, scored tries and also did some very good tackles.
What was most impressive though was how well they all played together as a team, the driving over the ball has improved massively and clearly led to a couple of tries, keep up the good work guys.
Squad: Jack (captain), Brandon, Felix, Tommy, Paul, Joe, George, Jake and Marcus
Scorer(s): Jack (2 tries), Brandon (1 try)

Wigan 8 Tarleton 2
Unfortunately the weather wasn't up to much today and neither was the pitch!! Two players were borrowed from Wigan for the first half to make up the team.
Tarleton came up against a well disciplined and strong Wigan side and today's game was a tough one but I think everyone agreed we learned a lot from the game.
Player of the match voted by Wigan was Paul Chinn so a very well done to you Paul an excellent and determined performance young man. Special mention must also go to Joe Cropper who put in a fantastic performance today. Well done Joe. Two great tries scored for Tarleton by Paul and Brandon.
Two players missed the 2nd half through injury. I am please to inform all Brandon is fit and well and we all hope Jack is fighting fit also. This meant we had 4 borrowed players for the 2nd half which made the 2nd half difficult, having said that the remaining players put in a brave performance taking some hard knocks.
Player of the Match: Paul (voted by Wigan)
Player of the Match: Joe (Parents Choice)
Squad: Felix (Captain), Paul, Brandon, George, Marcus, Joe and Jack
Scorer(s): Brandon (1 try) and Paul (1 try)

Blackburn 2 Tarleton 1 (Game 1)
Eccles 1 Tarleton 2 (Game 2)
The team travelled to Blackburn's ground to take part in a triangular match with Eccles being the third team.
The first match was Tarleton v Blackburn, we borrowed two players from Blackburn to make up the team. Our new players, Sam and Jake where playing their debut match.
Tarleton showed some great passing, determination and team work considering this was their first match of the season and gave coach Nicky plenty of food for thought for their next training session. Great teamwork by Paul and Jack which created Paul's try in the second half which was scored just after Jack had his try disallowed. Well-disciplined scrums by Marcus, Paul and George and good defensive action by Joe, Marcus and Jake. Unfortunately Blackburn just showed a bit more discipline and managed to break free to score their two tries.
Squad: George (Captain), Marcus, Joe, Jake, Jack, Paul (1 try) and Sam
We borrowed 2 Blackburn players again to make up the team for the second match against Eccles.
A great start by Tarleton where our borrowed player scored Tarleton's first try within minutes of the start of the match. Again some great play by Tarleton and some great passing being displayed. The second try for Tarleton scored by Jack showed some excellent teamwork between Sam and Jack.
Squad: George (Captain), Marcus, Joe, Jake, Jack (1 try), Paul and Sam
